Church cleanup day a success Teens getting involved in Sonshine SRBC Intranet is here! Teen News is about more than church About Teen News |
Many got involved on Saturday the 29th to restore God's house to full working order. Volunteers cleaned out the cabinets, re-inflated the playground balls, fixed the fans, did finishing touches on the altar--and remember the light at the front of the sanctuary that would blip out? They fixed that, too. Also bathroom stalls and doors were tightened and straightened. One example in particular, Mr. Steve and some teen volunteers worked on cleaning every single seat on the bus, washing the windows, and even getting all those candy wrappers off the floorboards!
Although some of you missed this day, you can still do your part now. How? You can show respect for this building as you use it. Don't abuse the doors, the walls, or the curtains. Throw all trash into the many containers we have around the church. Do not bring any food or drink into the main auditorium. Leave your seat in the same condition as you left it. All these things can be the first step in showing respect towards God, and believe me He is pleased when we show respect for His house. Back To Top
Teens using Sonshine as opportunity to get involved.
Rachel Thomas is not known to be kibitzing with other teens at lunchtime. Often she is seen helping a 10 year old pour mustard, or telling another to come back and sit down. Traditionally, Sonshine has been for ages 6-12, but there are several older ones who still want to come in the afternoon and be a part of the activities. Like me for example, who came back to Sonshine when I was 17 to help Dave at the teen table. Sarah and Bethy Price have been with Sonshine since they moved down last summer, and find it very exciting. They often help Miss Jamie with the younger kids or have their own separate group.
For all the teens, helping at Sonshine can mean doing responsible things such as setting up, taking down and cleaning, getting food out, and passing out prizes. These may not seem significant, but it is a start in setting an example for all those who are younger than you. SNAC leader Dave says that being the older person gives you a unique opportunity with these kids who are constantly trying to become like the older ones. One of the ways is becoming involved and taking a leadership role when you are at Sonshine. It is something to think about as I gather some additional comments on this very topic for future articles! The Intranet is here!
For the interests of privacy, Pastor Ed has set up an exclusive intranet
for prayer requests and anything else that might be personal for this church
family. An intranet means that real names can be shared with the local
church family rather than the rest of the world. So if you haven't already
done so, be sure next Sunday to give Pastor Ed your email address so he
can send you information on it! It is especially important in the event
something like Teen News ends up on the password site as well. Back

Teen News is not just about church.
Although this is a page on the church website, keep in mind it
is not about a church, but about teens and their relationship with Jesus.
That means when you have some news to give me, you don't have to just give
me what happened in church, but you can give what happened at school, at
home, at football practice...just about anywhere! Once we accept Jesus,
we can learn that He can go with us wherever we go!
As time goes on and I get more of your surveys back, I'll be finding a myriad of topics to be reporting on. So stay tuned!
If you haven't seen it already, be sure to see my Meeting
With God Bible study that gives just a few verses that talk about what
God can do in your everyday life! Back To Top
