JEREMIAH'S REACTION TO THE SINS OF HIS PEOPLE

Should Christians Be Affected by The Sins of The World, Even Though They Don't Participate ?

1. Sorrow over the wages of sin on others. (Jer. 9:1)
     A. Jesus did. Luke 19:41 & Mark 14:34
     B. We should. (Save with compassion.) Jude 1:22

2. Desire to flee from the evil of others. (Jer. 9:2)
          - David. Psalm 55:6

3. Honest assessment of the sins of others.Jer. 9:4
          **The final stage of moral depravity.
          - No one can be trusted. Micah 7:5
               Yet they trust lying words. (Jer. 7:4,8)
          - People will be sneaky (subtle).
          - Neighbors slander one another. Num. 14:36
          - People deceive one another. 2 Tim. 3:13
               *(The key to modern advertising)
          - Teach themselves how to lie. 1 Tim. 9-10
          - Weary themselves to commit iniquity. Matt. 24:12

WHAT GOD WILL DO WHEN PEOPLE TURN AGAINST HIM

Can God Get Angry At His Own People, and Bring Serious Judgement To Them ? Yes !! Rev. 3:16

1. I will melt them and test them. (Jer. 9:7)
     A. None can stand against the heat of God's wrath. Nahum 1:6, Rev. 6:17
     B. Greatest wrath yet to come. Matt. 3:7
          - Believers saved from it through the blood of Christ. 1 Thess. 1:10

2. I will visit them and avenge my soul. (Jer. 9:9)
     A. It is a time of assessment. Luke 19:44, Gen. 19:21-22
     B. God's visitation can be a blessing. Job 10:12
     C. Can be a time of judgement. Micah 7:4

3. I will bring saddening destruction. (Jer. 9:10-11)
     A. God can use men to accomplish this. Haggai 2:22, 1 Sam. 5:9-11
          Isaiah 13:6

     B. Doesn't have to be so. Psalm 103:4

4. I will feed them wormwood and gall. (Jer. 9:15)
     *Deut. 29:18 "Bitterness"
