WHAT TO DO AFTER YOU RECEIVE JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR!

Now that you have made the most important decision of your life, the natural question is, "What do I do now?" THE BIBLE TELLS YOU specific things you should do.

1. Begin attending a Bible believing church where the Word of God is taught faithfully and all the activities are Christ centered.

God doesn't just command us to go to church so that it can be a mere tradition in our lives. He has special reasons for it. Not only are we able to be a blessing to Him by worshipping Him, but we are also able to encourage others who come.

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25

2. Be Baptized the way that God wants it done.
It is what real Christians want to do. Tell your Pastor that you want to be baptized at the next Baptism Service, just as the New Testament Christians were.

They that gladly received his words were baptized. Acts 2:41

(Biblical Baptism is by immersion into water, not sprinkling)

And they went down both into the water, both Philip and the Eunuch; and he baptized him. Acts 8:38

-- Baptism shows that you want to be obedient to the Lord.
-- Baptism shows others what Christ has done for you.
-- Baptism is a way of telling others of your faith in Christ. We are told to confess out loud our belief in Jesus. If we really love Him we will not be ashamed.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Romans 10:9-11

3. Be faithful in your church attendance.
Attend as often as you can, several times a week, if possible. It is important to take in as much good Bible teaching as you can. It will help you understand more about your Christian life, more about how to handle situations, and more about the Lord. Study any outlines the Pastor may have available to you, and don't be afraid to take notes.

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God...we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness...wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 2 Peter 3:12-14

4. Be serious in your study of the Bible.
The Bible is our source of spiritual nourishment, and we all need lots of it. Take time each day to study the Bible; simply reading it is not enough ! If you don't have a King James Version of the Bible, you should get one, so that you can study a Bible that is accurately translated. If you need help getting one, your Pastor should be able to help you.

Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. II Timothy 2:15

5. Be faithful to pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ, that they will be successful in their own Christian walk and in helping to bring others to know Jesus.

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you. II Thessalonians 3:1

Jesus tells us that when we trust Him as Saviour, we become "born again". (See: John Chapter 3).

He pictures us as spiritual babies. Imagine bringing a new-born home from the hospital. The baby would need a lot of care, a lot of nourishing, and a lot of getting used to new surroundings and people. You will find your experience to be like that.

The church where Jesus wants you to be will be a place where you can "grow up" in Him, surrounded by people who truly care about you because they truly have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Be aware that not everyone who claims to be a Christian really is. You need to be sure that those you are allowing to guide and help you, are grounded in the Word of God.
